Restore Old Photos With AI

Bring lost memories back: faded, torn and forgotten photographs repaired, enhanced and returned to your family archive.

What Can Be Restored

Most damage that looks final is not. If the shape of a face survives, it can usually be recovered.

Damaged Photographs

Tears, creases, missing corners, water stains, mould spotting and scratches are rebuilt from the surrounding image.

Old Family Pictures

Victorian portraits, wartime snapshots, 1970s prints and early digital photos are brought back to a consistent, printable quality.

Colour Restoration

Yellowed and faded prints have their original tones recovered, and black and white images can be gently colourised.

Enhancement

Blur is reduced, grain is cleaned, and resolution is increased so a small print becomes large enough to hang on a wall.

Before And After

Every restoration keeps both versions. The original is preserved exactly as it arrived, and the restored version hangs beside it, labelled, so nobody ever mistakes a repair for the record.

  • Before: a creased 1952 wedding portrait, corners missing
  • After: creases removed, corners rebuilt, faces sharp
  • Before: a sun-faded 1978 holiday print, orange cast
  • After: natural skin tones and sky recovered
  • Before: a blurred school photograph, low resolution
  • After: printable at frame size, grain cleaned

Examples describe the types of restoration the museum performs. Real member before-and-after exhibits are added only with the family's permission.

How Restoration Works

I

Bring the photograph in

Scan the print or photograph it flat in even light, then upload it to your museum.

II

Repair and enhance

Damage is reconstructed, tone is corrected and detail is recovered, with colour offered as an optional second version.

III

Label and hang

Clara writes who, where and when beneath it, and the exhibit joins the right room and the right point on your timeline.

IV

Keep both forever

Original and restored versions are stored together in your private vault and inherited together.

Restoration Questions

Can AI repair a torn or water-damaged photograph?
Yes. Tears, creases, missing corners, stains and mould marks can usually be reconstructed from the surrounding image, provided enough of the original detail survives.
Can black and white photos be coloured?
They can. Colour is estimated from the scene, clothing and period, and is applied gently. The original black and white version is always kept alongside it.
Do I need to scan prints first?
A flat scan gives the best result, but a sharp, evenly lit photograph of the print taken with a modern phone works well too.
Is the original photograph changed?
Never. Restoration produces a new version; your original file stays untouched in your vault.
